What Zirconia Actually Is
Zirconia dioxide (ZrO2) is a ceramic material with mechanical properties closer to metal than to traditional dental porcelain. Aidite Premium / Upcera (China) — These are not the cheap blocks you see flagged in dental tourism warnings. The premium Chinese blocks are now ISO 13356 certified and used by reputable mid-market labs worldwide. We use them only for budget-conscious cases on posterior teeth.
What to avoid — unbranded blocks, third-tier Chinese imports, or blocks the clinic refuses to identify. A reputable clinic will name the specific brand and model on your written treatment plan and provide the lab traceability number.
Questions to Ask Before Booking
Is the temporary crown included? Some clinics charge extra for the temporary separately from the headline crown treatment. Our packages include CAD/CAM-milled temporaries throughout the lab fabrication period.
Are extractions, root canals or core build-ups included? Crowns are only as good as the underlying tooth. If preparation reveals more decay than expected or a root canal is needed, this is a separate line item. Get every possible item on the quote before you commit.
Are follow-up X-rays included? Periapical X-rays at 6 months and 1 year are standard quality control. We include 2 years of follow-up review X-rays and online consultations in the package.

Aftercare review schedule — Ultra Diş builds a 6-month and annual review schedule into every zirconia crown case, checking for fracture, chipping, colour stability and crown-margin integrity.
Risk factors that affect longevity — trauma (sports injury, biting hard objects), untreated bruxism (a night guard is recommended from day 1), missed annual reviews, and decay at the crown margin caused by inconsistent oral hygiene.
Expected lifespan — 15–20 years with proper care. We have cases from 2014 that are still in original condition. Lifespan is extended by annual hygiene appointments, occlusal monitoring, and prompt attention to any decay at the crown margin.
Daily maintenance — twice-daily brushing with a soft brush, interdental brushes or water flosser for crown margins, avoidance of very hard foods (nut shells, hard sweets, ice), and 6-monthly professional hygiene appointments.
